In 2016, TOPS Knives challenged its employees to design the best hatchet, tomahawk, or axe. The winner would have their design approved, credited, and put into production. The winning design came from Lorenzo Espinoza Sr., who is Leo? father. Leo Espinoza, the President of TOPS Knives, oversees all designs, including those from outside the company.
